Based on the movie of the same name, 9 to 5 is a musical comedy about a trio of corporate secretaries abused by their "sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot" boss. Their drug-fueled revenge fantasies accidentally come a little too true, and they end up kidnaping their boss and successfully running the office themselves.
A big complex show with many locations, 9 to 5 presents a significant scene and lighting challenge. It takes place in many locations around the office, plus several character's homes, and has a lengthy fantasy sequence. In addition to being a musical, it offered many opportunities to play with both realism and fantasy in the lighting design.
